Mission & ProfileWisconsin Hotel & Lodging Association Profile The Wisconsin Hotel & Lodging Association (WH&LA) is a non-profit trade association representing hotels, motels, resorts, inns, bed & breakfasts, condos and vacation homes throughout the state. WH&LA (formerly the Wisconsin Innkeepers Association) has been serving the lodging industry since 1896 by providing education, marketing, governmental affairs and information services to nearly 1,000 lodging property members. Purpose To deliver value an advocate for the business interests of our members. Mission #1: Provide valued services a member may not achieve independently. #2: Grow the membership and influence of the Association. #3: Address the evolving needs of our members. #4: Serve as the voice of the Wisconsin lodging industry. #5: Be a comprehensive resource for members, providing relevant industry information in a timely manner. #6: Evaluate and promote emerging marketing trends to present valued marketing opportunities for members. #7: Facilitate educational opportunities that address immediate issues and broad hospitality topics. Membership (as of June 1, 2010) - 870 lodging properties - 112 associate vendors - 43 chambers of commerce and convention & visitor bureaus - 5 universities/colleges - 40 students - 50 lodging executives Governance A 37-member Board of Directors comprised of six officers elected by the full board, 24 lodging representatives with at least seven representatives from each of three property size categories, five associate representatives, one student representative and one legal counsel representative Administration WH&LA's home office is located in Brookfield, WI, at I-94 & Moorland Road. The staff of seven is led by WH&LA President/CEO Trisha A. Pugal, CAE. WH&LA retains a contract lobbyist in Madison and lodging legal cousel in Milwaukee, and operates on an annual budget of approximately $1 million. |
