WHLA is excited to open the call for proposals to host the 2026 Wisconsin Lodging Conference & Trade Show! Each November, this flagship event brings together lodging leaders, industry partners, educators, and students from across the state for three powerful days of learning, networking, and celebration.

On July 25th, the U.S. Department of State (DOS) announced that it would be changing its visa interview waiver policy, effective September 2, 2025. Under the updated policy, nearly all nonimmigrant visa applicants, including H-2B visas, will now be required to attend an in-person interview at a U.S. consulate or embassy. This change applies to all nonimmigrant visa applicants (all types of U.S. visas) applying for a visa at an embassy or consulate on or after August 28th. While there are a few exceptions to this policy, none apply to H-2B visas.

The Wisconsin Women in Lodging (WWIL) return for the WWIL Breakfast on  Thursday, September 11, from 9:00–11:00 am at the beautiful Hotel Retlaw in Fond du Lac. This year’s program, part of the WHLA September Events, will feature a powerful panel discussion:

​WHLA member Sean Patel, representing Three Bears Lodge and Hotel Mead, recently participated in a business roundtable hosted by Altmann Construction in Wisconsin Rapids. ​The event brought together local business leaders and elected officials, including Congressman Derrick Van Orden and State Senators Pat Testin and Cory Tomczyk.

Spur of the Moment Ranch, a unique lodging destination nestled in Wisconsin’s beautiful Nicolet National Forest, has made a strategic investment to enhance comfort in its rustic camping cabins. By installing Mitsubishi heating and cooling units, the ranch has not only increased summer comfort but also extended its rental season to nearly year-round.

The 2025 Wisconsin Lodging Conference & Trade Show returns November 2–4 at Chula Vista Resort, and we’re excited to kick off WHLA’s largest event of the year with an opening keynote from Mary Delia Allen, a nationally recognized expert in hospitality guest experience and leadership. She’ll launch Monday’s programming with her dynamic session, “Welcoming Edge: Guest Experience in the Age of Leave Me Alone.”
