Richard Batley to be inducted into the Wisconsin Lodging Hall of Fame

The Wisconsin Hotel & Lodging Association (WHLA) proudly announces the induction of Richard Batley, President of R.B. Hospitality, into the prestigious Wisconsin Lodging Hall of Fame. This honor recognizes Batley's significant contributions to the state's lodging industry and his enduring commitment to excellence in hospitality.

“I am honored to be selected as an inductee to the Wisconsin Lodging Hall of Fame. It's great to be recognized for my hospitality experience, which spans over fifty years,” Mr. Batley said. He continued, “I have truly enjoyed my extensive career in the hospitality business and appreciate my devoted family, hardworking team members, and wonderful guests that guided me along the way.”

Richard Batley has been a stalwart in the hospitality sector, with a career spanning over four decades. Starting at the age of 16 as a dishwasher, Batley's passion and dedication propelled him through the ranks to become a successful hotel owner and investor. 

Batley's leadership and vision have not only elevated the standards of hospitality in Wisconsin but have also created hundreds of jobs, contributing significantly to the local economy. His commitment to customer care and service excellence has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Best Western International Voting Member of the Year Award and the Gus Zuehlke Distinguished Service Award.

“Mr. Batley’s story embodies the opportunities available in the hospitality industry, Said Bill Elliott, President & CEO of WHLA.  “From his days as a dishwasher to his career in hotel ownership and management, his commitment to serving travelers, employees, the community, and the lodging industry has been unwavering. We are proud to recognize Richard for his contribution to Wisconsin’s lodging industry.” 

The Wisconsin Lodging Hall of Fame, established in 2021, honors industry leaders and pioneers who have made substantial contributions to the lodging industry and the WHLA. Batley's induction into this esteemed group is a testament to his lasting impact and dedication to the hospitality profession.

The induction ceremony will take place during the WHLA Awards Luncheon on September 30, 2024, at American Family Field in Milwaukee. This event will celebrate the achievements of Wisconsin's hospitality leaders and recognize their contributions to the industry. Mr. Batley will be one of three individuals inducted this year, joining Mr. A. Scott Faulkner and Mr. Stephen M. Magnuson.
