Update on Film Office in Tentative State Budget Deal

Yesterday we sent out a Capitol Innsider alert to let you know that legislative leaders and the governor reached a tentative agreement on a new state budget, which includes a film production tax credit capped at $5 million per year.

Now, we’re happy to confirm that language that was very similar to the film office bill that was working its way through the legislature was included in this agreement. What this means is that the Wisconsin Department of Tourism can move forward with establishing a state Film Office, including the creation of a full-time director position.

We commend Governor Evers, Speaker Vos, and Senate Majority Leader LeMahieu for their bipartisan work to make this happen. This important step will help strengthen Wisconsin’s tourism industry and spotlight our state as a destination for film production.
