The excitement kicked off on September 10 with a productive meeting of the WHLA Board of Directors at Hotel Retlaw. These board meetings play a vital role in steering the association’s priorities, shaping impactful programs, and ensuring that WHLA is a steadfast advocate for Wisconsin's lodging sector. Later that day, more members joined for Lodging Innsights – Fond du Lac, which included a networking reception and dinner. Attendees were treated to insightful presentations from WHLA President & CEO Bill Elliott, CAE about Tourism Promotion and Development Funds (TPIDs). Secretary Anne Sayers from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism then spoke about the recent historic approval of the tourism budget in Wisconsin, providing attendees with invaluable insights into emerging opportunities and trends that are shaping the lodging industry. The following day, September 11, began with an inspiring Wisconsin Women in Lodging (WWIL) Breakfast that drew over 50 engaged participants. WHLA Vice President Monica Goeke, CAE introduced the featured guest speaker, Wisconsin Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski, who shared her valuable perspectives on leadership and public service. The event concluded with the WHLA Awards Luncheon, a celebration of excellence in Wisconsin's lodging industry. WHLA Chair Elect Amy Boston served as the MC and presented the winners of the 2025 Spirit of Hospitality Award—front-line hospitality professionals recognized for their exceptional service, team inspiration, and efforts to enhance the guest experience across the state. Each honoree was acknowledged by WHLA Chair Elect Amy Boston for their dedication, leadership, and significant impact.

The luncheon also honored Bob Green as the newest inductee into the Wisconsin Lodging Hall of Fame, presented by WHLA Board Chair Rory Madsen and accepted by WHLA Past Chair Jon Jossart. The WHLA September Events were a powerful reminder of why it’s so important for the lodging industry to come together—to learn from experts, connect with peers, and celebrate achievements.
