Tourism Promotion Improvement Districts (TPIDs)

A proven, industry-led funding model that helps destinations attract more visitors, increase overnight stays, and strengthen local economies.

What Is a Tourism Promotion Improvement District?

A Tourism Promotion Improvement District (TPID) operates similarly to a traditional Business Improvement District (BID) but is exclusively tailored to the lodging industry. It empowers local hotels, motels, and short-term rentals to self-assess a dedicated fee, creating a recurring, sustainable fund specifically allocated to drive regional tourism and boost local economies.

Core Value Proposition

Picture

Dedicated Revenue Generation

Establishes an independent, private-sector-funded revenue stream solely for tourism promotion and regional marketing—without tapping into general tax funds.
Picture

Direct ROI for Accommodations

Strategically engineered with a singular, primary objective: to measurably increase paid overnight stays and maximize RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Room) across the district.
Picture

Industry-Led Governance

The program is directed by the lodging businesses themselves, ensuring that marketing dollars are deployed where they have the highest economic impact.

A Proven National Model

This is not an untested concept; it is a highly successful national framework built on a proven track record of economic growth.

25
STATES

Currently enacted in 25 states and rapidly expanding nationwide.

GROWING
NATIONWIDE

Widely supported by hospitality associations as the modern standard for public-private tourism partnerships.

Why Support This Legislation?

Sustainable Growth Without Taxpayer Burden: Unlike traditional taxes, a TPID framework relies on a self-imposed assessment by the hospitality sector. It allows local destinations to compete aggressively on a national and global stage, driving outside dollars directly into the state's economy.
