Ambassador Hotel Celebrates Its 95th Anniversary Year by Adding Trademark Collection by Wyndham Flag2/13/2023
According to the hotel’s general manager, Jon Jossart, “This is a perfect flag for our property. The Trademark® Collection by Wyndham features unique, independent properties, all beautiful in their own way, for travelers who are looking to get away from the predictable hotel experience, yet benefit from Wyndham’s great loyalty program. It will help us increase our visibility, while maintaining our independent iconic property.”
Jossart adds, “Our guests regularly tell us our hotel’s art deco flare leaves such a lasting impression, transporting them back to another era. That’s not something we want to change, but rather highlight to more guests with the backing of the world’s largest hotel company. It’s a very exciting development. We are thrilled to be joining the Wyndham family.” While the hotel’s name and iconic rooftop neon signage will remain, the hotel is in the process of updating the guest room experience with new flooring, drapery, furniture, mattresses and TVs. All rooms feature Apple TV, allowing guests to use their own streaming services from home while on property. About Ambassador Hotel Milwaukee
The Ambassador Hotel, designed by Milwaukee architects Urban Peacock and Armin Frank, opened its doors in grand style on May 4, 1928. The hotel, which has a unique Art Deco flare, also shows signs of Egyptian Revival, a popular sub-motif that emerged after the discovery of King Tut’s tomb in 1922.
In the 1930s hotel lounge, patrons were often entertained by Liberace, then simply known as West Allis native Walter Busterkeys. In the 70s and 80s the neighborhood and Hotel declined. It wasn’t until Marquette University alumni Rick Wiegand purchased the property in 1995 and started on a decade long $14 million restoration of the property that the hotel regained its glory. Today, the Ambassador Hotel truly is Milwaukee hospitality gem providing an urban oasis near the heart of downtown. It offers a remarkable blend of modern amenities and 1920's Art Deco design. From the original marble floors and bronze elevator doors to the ornate plasterwork, every detail of the Ambassador Hotel is a testament to the bold beauty of Art Deco and the history of the Near West Side of Milwaukee. The Ambassador features 132 renovated guest rooms and suites, along with 3,000 square feet of event space, perfect for any meeting or private event. About Trademark Collection by Wyndham
