Call for Conference Speaker Proposals

​We are now accepting speaker proposals for the 2023 Wisconsin Lodging Conference! We are looking for dynamic speakers to share information on topics of interest to hotel and lodging owners and operators during educational sessions at the 2023 Wisconsin Lodging Conference on November 6 and 7 at the Holiday Inn Conference Center Stevens Point.

​This annual WHLA event is open to the lodging industry at large - bringing hotel owners and operators, lodging management executives, hospitality students and educators, and industry vendors together to share industry-leading educational content that is practical and relevant for today's Wisconsin hoteliers.

Our event attendees asked, and we listened - the 2023 Wisconsin Lodging Conference will have more educational sessions than ever before! The 2023 Conference Schedule is slated to have more educational sessions than ever before with fifteen breakout sessions and two keynotes.

​2023 Conference Educational Sessions

• Keynote Presentations: Two keynote sessions are planned with the opening keynote on Monday, November 6 and the closing keynote on Tuesday, November 7. Topics of interest for 2023 keynotes include: Company Culture, Service Leadership, Team Building, Work-Life Balance and more.
  
  
• Breakout Session Tracks: Three concurrent breakout sessions will be held during four time slots with tracks focused on key areas related to the hotel business. 2023 breakout session tracks and suggested topics:
  
  
  • Leadership/Management: Employee Recruitment/Retention, Human Resource Strategies, Leadership Development, Leadership Communication, Supervisory Skills
    
    
  • Operations: Hotel Renovation, Interior Design, Safety and Security, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Guest Services, Guest Communications, Technology
    
    
  • Sales and Marketing: Budgeting, Data-Driven Decision Making, Guest Direct Booking, Revenue Management, Online Marketing, Social Media, Website Development/Best Practices
    
    
• Wisconsin Women in Lodging: The Wisconsin Women in Lodging Breakfast will feature a speaker. Suggested Women in Lodging topics: Mentorship, Personal Branding, Work-Life Balance, Leadership Development, and more. 

​Speaker Benefits and Expectations

Speakers for selected sessions will have their name, bio, and headshot published on the 2023 Wisconsin Lodging Conference website and in the conference event program. ​Each speaker will be responsible for any additional expenses required to attend the Annual Conference; such as travel or lodging.

Given WHLA’s tradition of using educational sessions as a platform to showcase thought leaders in the lodging industry, we look for presenters who are willing to share their expertise without the expectation of payment. A modest honoraria is available for keynote speakers. All selected speakers will be required to:

• Complete a speaker agreement with WHLA
• Provide a headshot and biography for promotion materials and conference program
• Utilize the WHLA slide template for presentation materials
• Register for the 2023 Wisconsin Lodging Conference for at least the day of their session
• Submit a copy of their final presentation to WHLA prior to the conference

​Who can submit a proposal?
WHLA members of all types, as well as other knowledgeable experts outside the membership, to submit a speaker proposal. 

How do I submit a proposal?
Submit your speaker proposal online here. The deadline to submit proposals is July 14, 2023.

Who will review the proposals?
Members from WHLA’s Education/Conference Committee will review all proposals and recommend speakers for the 2023 Wisconsin Lodging Conference. 

When will I be notified if I have been selected to speak?
WHLA will notify you of your selection status no later than September 3, 2023.
