Attendees were warmly welcomed with bags provided by our generous event sponsor, Sid Grinker Restoration. They then proceeded to the green for a short game clinic led by the Head and Assistant Golf Professionals at Trappers Turn. The 9-hole tournament, which began at 3 pm with 9 groups golfing on the Arbor 9 course, was made possible by the support of Revelation PR, Advertising & Social Media and Swandby/Kilgore Associates, Inc., who sponsored the holes. In addition to the golf, players had the opportunity to participate in five games throughout the course, with special prizes from Trappers Turn up for grabs.
When the tournament concluded, the group convened in the clubhouse to enjoy a specially curated meal and for the presentation of awards. Kalahari Resort and Chula Vista Resort provided sponsorship support for the dinner. Trappers Turn’s Director of Golf and General Manager Patrick Steffes welcomed the group and began the evening events by awarding a bottle of wine to one lucky attendee and presented awards for the winning team and the team with the most points.
During dinner, WHLA Vice President and WWIL Steering Committee Staff Liaison Monica Goeke, CAE shared background on the ideation of the event and why holding a golf event was important to the group. Then, WWIL member Cindy Lapidakis from Royal Basket Trucks spoke about the importance of women participating in golf events like Nine and Wine. WWIL Steering Committee Chair Krissy Sigmund from Chula Vista Resort provided information on the group's fundraising initiatives. Throughout the event, over $1,200 of donations were pledged for the WWIL Career Development Scholarships, which will be awarded for the first time in November at the 2024 Wisconsin Lodging Conference & Trade Show.
Nine and Wine was planned by the WWIL Steering Committee. Special thanks to WWIL committee member Karolyn Doro from Kalahari Resorts for leading the event coordination efforts.
