WHLA Membership Meeting Recap

​WHLA’s Board Chair, Brandon McConnell, recently called a special online meeting of our members that was held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 to discuss and vote on a series of changes to the association’s Articles of Organization and Bylaws. 

​Here is a summary of the main changes:

Articles of Incorporation:

• All references to Chairman of the Board, Chairman-Elect and Vice-Chairman would become Board Chair, Chair-Elect and Vice-Chair
• Changing our acronym from WH&LA to WHLA

Bylaws:
Board Composition

• Create At-Large Delegate to replace now defunct AH&MA (American Hotel & Motel Association) delegate, who will serve on the Board and the Executive Committee, 1 year term
• Create Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Delegate who will serve on the Board and the Executive Committee, 1 year term
• Change the range of mandated representatives from each property size category, currently 7-10, to 7-12
• Clarifies director and officer abilities to stay in job when switching offices

Other Changes

• Changing references so Chairman of the Board, Chairman-Elect and Vice-Chairman would become Board Chair, Chair-Elect and Vice-Chair
• Clarifying the Board's right to remove a member who misses two or more meetings in the same calendar year
• Other small technical changes (grammatical and typos)
