Increase in Retailer's Discount Deduction:
As a part of the State Budget passed earlier this year, you will get to retain more of the sales tax funds that you collect to offset the administrative expenses. For taxes payable on or after October 1, 2023, the retailer's discount on the total sales tax amount increased from 0.5 percent to 0.75 percent, and the limit of a retailer's discount that may be deducted on a sales and use tax return increased from $1,000 to $8,000 per reporting period.
