WHLA has honored Carmen Smalley, CMP, CHE, Instructor and Lead Faculty of the Hospitality and Events Management program at the Milwaukee Area Technical College, with its Associate of the Year award for 2022. The award recognizes one professional each year who services the Wisconsin lodging industry in an exemplary manner. Smalley was presented with the award during the awards dinner at the 2022 Wisconsin Lodging Conference & Trade Show on November 7 at The Osthoff Resort.

WHLA has honored hotelier Jay Schumerth, Hostmark Hospitality Group with the Corporate Champion of the Year award. The Corporate Champion of the Year Award recognizes a key management individual who owns or operates lodging properties in Wisconsin for their high level of achievements. The award was presented during dinner at the 2022 Wisconsin Lodging Conference & Trade Show on November 7 at The Osthoff Resort.

WHLA recently honored Dave Sekeres, General Manager of Lake Lawn Resort with its annual Innkeeper of the Year Award. The Innkeeper of the Year Award is a time-honored tradition that recognizes an outstanding individual who exemplifies the hospitality industry in our state. He was presented with the award during the awards dinner at the 2022 Wisconsin Lodging Conference on November 7 at The Osthoff Resort.

DELAVAN, Wis. – (Nov. 15, 2022) – The completely remodeled dining room at Lake Lawn Resort is open after a $1.5 million revitalization of both the space and the menu. Renamed “1878 on the Lake,” the restaurant pays tribute to the resort’s history, which opened as a 50-person boarding house in 1878. Today, the brand new restaurant brings together the best of the classic and the modern, highlighting the spectacular views of Delavan Lake and providing a new dining option for the area surrounding Lake Geneva.

Established in 2021, this award recognizes leaders and pioneers who have contributed significantly to Wisconsin's lodging industry and the longevity of the Wisconsin Hotel & Lodging Association.

(October 19, 2022) – Geronimo Hospitality Group has named Christopher Wolfgramm the dual general manager of Ironworks Hotel Beloit and Hotel Goodwin, both located in downtown Beloit, Wisconsin. Wolfgramm joins Geronimo with over 14 years of hospitality management experience having previously served at resorts, hotels and other properties throughout south-central Wisconsin.
